General PurposeThe Retail Associate ensures a positive shopping experience for our customers. The role includes greeting patrons, maintaining merchandise presentation, assisting in merchandise handling, and supporting operational goals in all store areas.
Essential Functions- Practice safety as the top priority and report unsafe conditions.
- Maintain a clutter‑free sales floor with clear egress to emergency exits.
- Treat all customers and associates with respect, friendliness, and professionalism.
- Assist customers—be register‑trained, help with merchandise, and answer questions courteously.
- Respond promptly to customer service calls and resolve issues, escalating to leadership when needed.
- Represent and support the Ross brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high‑touch areas).
- Follow the company’s dress code and maintain a professional appearance.
- Execute daily assigned sizing and recovery to keep the store organized and merchandised to standards.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor in a timely manner, following presentation guidelines.
- Understand loss‑prevention programs, shortage highway, store protection specialist (when applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follow MOS policies for marking and processing out‑of‑stock merchandise.
- Follow policies for cash, check, charge card, refund, voids, and offline procedures; handle bankable tenders accurately.

- Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
- Perform basic mathematical calculations used in retail.
- Use store equipment (PDTs, registers, PCs) as required.
- Stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of the time.
- Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull, and lift over 25 pounds.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other supplies.
- Additional qualifications may be required for specific assignments.
- Stockroom shifts may require lifting over 20 pounds.
