Job Duties
  • Assist the Store Manager with daily operations and sales results.
  • Supervise processing of donated goods, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with staff to train and develop them effectively.
  • Open and close the store in the Store Manager’s absence.
  • Maintain daily and weekly reports of sales, donations, financial results, cash handling.
  • Ensure store appearance, comply with policies, safety protocols, and store manual.
  • Provide high‑standards customer and donor service and reinforce Goodwill’s mission.
  • Perform administrative duties: communicate transportation needs, open/close store, report facilities issues, make deposits.
  • Other duties as assigned, including travel to other stores on an as‑needed basis.
Back of Store Duties
  • Maintain organized and clean production area.
  • Facilitate (un) loading of product from/to company trucks.
  • Train employees regarding processing, sorting, hanging, and organizing donated goods.
  • Greets donors, receives merchandise, provides itemized receipts.
  • Break down donations into appropriate bins.
  • Examine non‑clothing items to determine suitability for sales floor.
  • Place salable clothing on hangers, group similar types, count and record pieces.
  • Place unsellable clothing in appropriate bins.
Front of Store Duties
  • Train employees on register procedures, floor layout, and product placement.
  • Process customer transactions: ring sale on cash register, collect payment, make change, bag merchandise, thank customer.
  • Assist customers with shopping needs.
  • Pull racks from back production room to sales floor, arrange clothes on racks with similar colors.
  • Keep sales floor clean, neat, and properly displayed.
  • Remove items from floor, dust, pull clothes when racks are too full.
  • Report theft problems to Area Manager, Director of Retail or Director of Risk Management as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School or GED (preferred).
  • Minimum two years of retail management experience (preferred).
  • Two‑ or four‑year degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated team leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication; ability to read and comprehend.
  • Advanced customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with POS reporting procedures.
  • Energy and enthusiasm to help others; interest in a retail career.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management and basic math calculations.
  • Proficiency with computer/iPad, Word, Excel, and other Office programs; basic office equipment use.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Flexible schedule: weekends, evenings, holidays.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
