We're seeking a seasoned radio news anchor with excellent writing skills, clear and conversational delivery, and a strong interest in local and state news.
What You'll Do- Deliver radio newscasts
- Write news stories for multiple markets
- Maintain deadlines to provide news stories in a timely fashion
- Write clear and concise news copy
- Produce, edit and write content for 24/7 Newswire
- Gather audio from press conferences, live events and partner TV stations
- Monitor sources for breaking news (wires and social media)
- Finalize content using digital audio editing software
- Must have general knowledge of all current events including but not limited to political, entertainment, sports and finance
- Repackage content from producers and field reporters for newscasts
- May be called on to anchor or report as needed
- Produce short-form reports (voicers/wraps) for anchors on the following shift
- Knowledge of the Mervin Block style of writing
- Ability to run your own audio board
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Pleasant, charismatic and well-controlled voice; excellent pronunciation and grammar
- Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented newsroom
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Must be willing to work weekends
- Previous on-air broadcast experience is preferred but not required
- Journalism degree is preferred but not required
- Respect for others and a strong belief that others should do this in return
