As a Design Job Captain on AO’s Multifamily/Mixed-Use Design team, you will play a key role in the early phases of architectural design, supporting projects from site planning through entitlements. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented and passionate design professional eager to work across a wide range of multifamily housing products, including high-density market-rate, affordable housing, stick-built, and modular developments.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to schematic design and site planning efforts.
- Assist in producing and coordinating plans, elevations, sections, and presentation graphics.
- Support the development of 3D models and visualizations.
- Help set up and maintain design drawing sets.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure coordinated design documentation.
- Participate in the cartooning and development of drawing sets using AO standards.
- Research relevant codes, ordinances, and guidelines to support design decisions.
- Understand and contribute to the required deliverables of each design phase.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Revit, Sketch Up, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong graphic, visual, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment and take initiative.
- Working knowledge of planning and building code.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in architecture, architectural technology, or proven experience as a draftsperson in an architectural firm or related industry.
- 4+ years of architectural experience, including experience in project coordination and documentation.
- Proficiency in Revit and other relevant industry-standard software.
- Intermediate/Working knowledge of architectural principles, building codes, and construction methods.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and design work.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
