Position: Social Studies Teacher - Full Time

Overview

Social Studies Teacher - Full Time role at Orange Lutheran High School. This position teaches World History and US History and is scheduled to begin on January 5, 2026. The classroom teacher collaborates to provide a Christ-centered learning environment and upholds the Orange Lutheran core values of Biblical truth, integrity, innovation, excellence, and relationships. Responsibilities include developing and implementing curriculum plans, conducting engaging classroom activities, assessing student progress, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Instruction and Curriculum Development: provide students with a focused, Christ-centered, challenging, and engaging educational experience; integrate Biblical principles and prayer; develop lessons that foster reflective, growth-oriented learners; incorporate applied and experiential learning; utilize diverse instructional methodologies; regularly assess and adjust lessons based on student engagement and success; prepare lesson plans according to school policy and course objectives; adapt methods to meet student needs;

    prepare, correct, assess, and grade assignments promptly; collaborate with the department chair and colleagues on curriculum development and alignment with standards.
  • Classroom Management: establish clear learning outcomes, maintain a positive and inclusive environment, manage behavior, foster respect and cooperation, communicate with students and families regarding progress and issues; ensure supervision during school activities; follow safety procedures.
  • Student Assessment and Support: observe and evaluate student performance; maintain records; enforce policies; provide constructive feedback; address social, emotional, and academic needs; collaborate with counselors and support staff to promote well-being.
  • Professionalism and Development: participate in professional development; maintain professional interactions; attend school events and trainings; implement feedback and pursue ongoing growth; uphold Orange Lutheran guiding principles.
  • Additional Duties: report on time; maintain a safe environment; prepare instructional materials for substitute teachers; supervise Daily Gathering settings; perform other duties as assigned.
Reports to

Principal of Academics, Academic Dean, Department Chair

Qualifications

Education
: BA or BS degree; twenty-four to thirty-six hours of college work in the subject area; completion of an approved teacher training program with student teaching or proven successful classroom teaching experience.

Experience
:
Equivalent directly related job experience or a suitable combination of education, experience, and training.

Licenses, Certificates, and Clearances
:
Valid Fingerprint;
Valid CPR and First Aid certifications; TB Risk Assessment;
Ministry Safe Clearance.

Physical Requirements

The employee must have the physical abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Frequent movement around campus, sustained attention, and use of hands for handling objects
  • Occasional standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching, bending, kneeling
Work Environment
