The Vice President, Controller will report to the CFO and work closely with executive leadership, the board, and equity partners. This role is responsible for leading all accounting and controllership functions while helping scale the finance organization, processes, and systems as the business grows in size and complexity.
This leader will serve as a strategic business partner to the CFO and senior leadership, contributing to key initiatives that drive profitability, operational excellence, and long‑term value creation.
Key responsibilities- Lead all accounting, controllership, payroll, audit, tax, compliance, and internal control functions
- Oversee job costing and revenue recognition under Percentage of Completion
- Support sales tax, income tax, business license tax, and property tax compliance
- Lead M&A accounting and post‑acquisition integration activities
- Partner with senior leadership on strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting
- Deliver accurate, timely, and decision‑useful financial reporting to management, board, and investors
- Develop and monitor KPIs and operational metrics
- Manage balance sheet optimization, working capital, and cash flow forecasting
- Oversee treasury activities and debt covenant compliance
- Manage external audit relationships and ensure GAAP compliance
- Lead accounts receivable and collections processes
- 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience (Controller, VP Finance, or CFO level)
- Experience in multi‑site, project‑based, or services‑driven businesses
- Strong background in M&A integration and high‑growth environments
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA preferred
- Strategic, hands‑on leader who can translate strategy into execution
- Collaborative, inclusive, and influential communicator
- High integrity with strong business judgment
- Comfortable leading through ambiguity and change
- Results‑driven with strong commercial acumen
