The Resources Regulator (part of NSW Resources) is seeking a Senior Inspector Environment to undertake operational regulatory functions related to NSW minerals exploration, mining, and petroleum industries, delivering end-to-end regulation, from assessing approvals and determining securities, to monitoring compliance and ensuring land is restored for future use.

With a focus on effective environmental management and land rehabilitation, you will assist in the development and implementation of strategic regulatory approaches to enable as well as ensure industry complies with environmental regulations through inspections, assessments, and audits.

You’ll also:
  • Collaborate with operational, regulatory and technical experts to provide direction and promote best practice in exploration activities and mine rehabilitation and to deliver the best environmental outcomes.
  • Build regulatory capability and a strong regulatory culture that is responsive to change and emerging challenges.
  • Be outcomes focused, taking a risk-based approach to regulatory activities, underpinned by consistent and transparent decision-making.
To be successful you’ll need to:
  • Hold and maintain a current Class C driver licence as well as the ability willingness to travel as required.
  • Have tertiary qualifications relevant to NSW mining legislation, environmental or natural resources management, sciences, or engineering (or qualifications deemed equivalent by the Department).
