UCI Health is the clinical enterprise of the University of California, Irvine, and the only academic health system based in Orange County. The Respiratory Care Practitioner evaluates pulmonary dysfunction and performs cardiopulmonary procedures to treat and care for patients by means of respiratory therapy and ventilatory assistance.

Position Summary

Provide respiratory care services on the pediatric and NICU units, performing procedures, monitoring patients, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Must possess PALS certification for pediatric trained RCP.
• Must possess NRP and PALS certification for NICU trained RCP.
• Must be a graduate of an AMA‑approved Respiratory Care program.
• Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• For NICU and pediatric trained RCPs, two (2) years’ experience as a licensed respiratory care practitioner, with minimum one (1) year experience in the work areas associated with certifications held.
• Current RCP license or work permit from the State of California Respiratory Care Board (must obtain RCP license prior to expiration of work permit).
• Current PALS certification upon hire; prior coworkers grandfathered until August 1, 2026.
