Position Summary:

Infection Prevention Manager – UCI Health, Orange

UCI Health is seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Infection Prevention Manager to oversee the daily operations of the inpatient infection prevention team at UCI Health - Orange. This is a critical leadership role that will provide direct support to the inpatient infection prevention team and serve as the on‑site resource for complex challenges as they arise.

Key Responsibilities and Expected Behaviors
  • Lead and manage the inpatient infection prevention team, ensuring effective and efficient daily operations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing consultation and guidance on infection prevention practices.
  • Proactively recognize challenges and communicate a plan for resolution to the leadership team.
  • Mentor and support a highly skilled and collaborative team, fostering professional growth.
  • Partner with interdisciplinary teams by remaining highly visible in the patient care spaces to advance patient safety and infection prevention goals.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of infection prevention activities and regularly communicate with the leadership team.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills to prioritize and balance competing initiatives.
  • Seek to understand the challenges faced by the inpatient team, effectively remove barriers, and communicate priorities to the team.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Strong knowledge of all relevant healthcare information technology and infection control workflows and processes.
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a management or leadership role within a hospital or health care organization.
  • Five years experience in a healthcare or public health setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience / training.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms.
