Job Description & How to Apply Below
Your Impact
When you join OC Music Services, you become part of a small, passionate team on a mission to make music more accessible, inclusive, and meaningful for our community.
We believe every person deserves the opportunity to experience the power of music. For many of the individuals and families we serve, music therapy becomes a place where communication grows, confidence builds, relationships deepen, and strengths are discovered in ways they never imagined.
At OCMS, we create music therapy experiences where children and adults feel welcomed, understood, and successful. We proudly serve a diverse community, including neurodiverse individuals and people who may not have always found a place in traditional therapeutic or educational environments.
This role is perfect for someone who believes therapy should be relationship-centered, strengths-based, and rooted in joy. Someone who walks into every session believing each client is capable and creates meaningful musical experiences where they feel seen, connected, and empowered to grow.
You will provide individualized and group music therapy services in our thoughtfully designed studio and throughout the community while collaborating with a team that genuinely enjoys learning from one another. Through mentorship, shared ideas, and ongoing professional development, you will continue growing as a clinician while cultivating your own unique clinical voice.
You will build meaningful relationships with clients and families, create music therapy experiences that honor each individual's strengths, and help every client feel successful.
Compensation: $30–$37/hour ($62,000–$77,000/year)
Your Day to Day
- Assess clients' social, emotional, communication, physical, cognitive, and musical needs to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Plan and facilitate engaging individual and group music therapy and adapted lesson sessions using evidence based musical interventions while continuously reassessing client progress.
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation, including session notes, progress reports, and treatment plan updates.
- Collaborate closely with the Clinical Supervisor, OCMS team members, families and related service providers to ensure coordinated, client centered care.
- Represent the organization through recitals, special events, community outreach, and family engagement activities while promoting inclusive and fun music experiences.
Required qualifications:
- MT-BC (Music Therapist - Board Certified) credential, or board-eligible with a scheduled exam date
- Functional skills on piano, guitar, and voice
- Experience with autism and a range of neurodiverse diagnoses
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Valid drivers license
- Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) training or certification
- Experience with pediatric clients and child development
- Experience leading groups across ages and abilities
- Familiarity with Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) and AAC
- Additional instrumental skills (ukulele, percussion, voice, etc.).
We believe great clinicians never stop learning.
You will receive:
- Paid trainings
- Mentorship and support from our Team and Clinical Supervisor
- Professional development opportunities
- Opportunities to grow with our expanding programs
