Nurse Practitioner II – Hematology Malignancies

Role Overview

Under the guidance of the Clinic Medical Director and Nurse Practitioner III Supervisor, the Nurse Practitioner II will provide patient care in the Hematology/Oncology service line and Infusion Center, focusing on assessment, treatment planning, counseling, and quality oversight for patients with blood and solid tumor malignancies.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive medical histories and perform initial and periodic examinations of patients.
  • Order, interpret, and develop treatment plans for diagnostic studies and therapeutic interventions.
  • Provide patient counseling and coordinate follow‑up care.
  • Utilize EMR to document encounters and bill appropriately.
  • Serve as a resource to physicians, nursing staff, and other clinical professionals.
  • Teach and mentor staff and students on clinical protocols and patient education.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical trials as directed.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner in California with a valid RN license.
  • Accredited NP program completion and valid CA NP and DEA certifications.
  • Board certifications in Oncology Nursing and/or Chemotherapy (preferred).
  • Experience in Hematology/Oncology and/or infusion patient care.
  • Proficiency with BLS and ACLS within the first month.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and exercise diplomacy.
  • Customer‑service skills and ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to workload.
  • Experience educating patients and staff regarding chemotherapy side effects and cancer information.
