PositionSummary
The clinical nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients. The role ensures coordination of care between other disciplines and support staff, evaluates patient outcomes, oversees the effectiveness of the plan of care, and makes referrals or revisions as necessary. The nurse acts as a role model and mentor to students and new nurses, and functions as a Patient Care Coordinator (PCC) as requested by the supervisor or manager.
WhatIt Takes to be Successful
- Minimum of 2 years recent inpatient clinical nursing experience in adult acute care or completion of a 6‑month UCI Medical Center Clinical Nurse I orientation or new‑graduate RN residency didactic series.
- All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment.
- Understanding of applicable regulatory requirements.
- Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families.
- Registered Nurse
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
