UCI Health hematologic oncologists provide expert consultation and treatment for patients with many types of cancer, including malignancies of the blood such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma, as well as solid tumor carcinomas such as colon, breast, and prostate. Patients diagnosed with cancer typically need a range of medical specialists, treatments, and services, all available at the UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, Orange County's only National Cancer Institute‑designated comprehensive cancer center.
We also offer the only adult hematopoietic stem‑cell transplant services in Orange County, allowing patients to receive life‑saving treatment without traveling long distances. Our oncologists are highly skilled in leading‑edge treatments and many participate in clinical trials. Role on the Team
The position of Nurse Practitioner II in the Department of Medicine, Hematology/Oncology Division requires a highly competent, independent yet team‑oriented individual who will be a critical part of the team caring for cancer patients at the UCI Medical Center in Orange County. Under the supervision of Medical Director(s) and the Nurse Practitioner Supervisor, and guided by applicable policies and procedures, the Nurse Practitioner will participate in the comprehensive care of patients in the ambulatory and infusion center settings at the Irvine Infusion Center.
Responsibilities include multidisciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians. The Nurse Practitioner is an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) who possesses the advanced education, knowledge, clinical skills, and experience necessary to provide advanced nursing care in their area of specialization.
Functions performed include management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures within the scope of practice. The NP professional may provide patient care across all age groups based on educational preparation and at all Health licensed settings and affiliates. Advanced Practice Practitioners are required to be credentialed to practice, privileged through Medical Staff, and must complete credentialing and privilege approval prior to the first working day.
The NP is accountable, evaluated, and provided feedback by the supervising or collaborating physician, physician designee(s) in the same clinical specialty, or the Administrative Manager.
