American Traveler is hiring an RN House Supervisor for a day-shift role requiring CA licensure, BLS/ACLS certification, and prior supervisory experience across a multi-facility hospital system.

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required in-hand at time of application (EMSA not accepted)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required in-hand
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
  • Candidates for specialized units must have at least 1 year of full-time equivalent experience in that specialty within the past 2 years
  • Prior charge or supervisory experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required and must be documented in work history
  • CPI Blue Card from the Crisis Prevention Institute required in-hand for ER and Float Pool RNs (MAB or online certification not accepted)
  • Two supervisor references required at time of application
  • Prior travel experience required unless otherwise noted

Responsibilities

  • House Supervisor role overseeing bed placement and patient flow across UC facilities
  • Day shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, Sunday through Saturday rotation
  • 6 weekends required per 6-week schedule
  • Float required between UCI facilities
  • Uses Epic EMR system
  • Facilitate and assign appropriate bed placements for intra- and inter-facility admissions and transfers
  • Coordinate with nursing units, case management, physicians, and other departments to ensure timely transitions of care
  • Monitor patient census and bed availability to anticipate needs and resolve placement delays
  • Serve as central liaison between Emergency Department, perioperative services, inpatient units, capacity management, operations, physicians, and case managers
  • Collaborate to resolve conflicts, prioritize high-acuity patients, and ensure efficient bed utilization
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel
  • Returning staff must be gone a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler
  • No RTO permitted within the first two weeks of assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract highly preferred
