The Front of House Supervisor supports the management team in delivering friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable guest service that consistently goes above and beyond. This position is a step before our Management Training, offering a chance to learn the business and grow your career.
Essential Job Functions- Complete opening duties to standard
- Record all necessary information/messages in legible writing
- Seat guests as reserved or walk‑in promptly and courteously, accommodating special requests
- Ensure transfer of guest checks from bartenders and cocktail servers to dining room servers
- Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests even when busy
- Interact in courteous and professional manner with guests, supervisors, and co‑workers
- Resolve guest complaints in a calm and constructive manner
- Follow manager’s instructions
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of guest restrooms
- Guide assistants to ensure optimum service
- Complete all closing reports and leave duty after notifying manager
- Legibly document orders when point‑of‑sale system is inoperative
- Complete comps or voids as needed during shift
- Follow maintenance program and cleaning schedule
- Update menus and wine lists for managers
- Notify management of any pertinent shift information
- Minimum age 21 to serve alcoholic beverages
- High school graduate or some college
- Previous supervisory experience
- Food Handlers Card
- Good verbal and written English communication skills
- Basic math calculation ability
- Well organized, able to maintain concentration and clear thinking under stress
- Ability to suggestively sell menu items and beverages
- Calm conversation skills with irate guests and coworkers in tense situations
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Team player able to work cohesively with co‑workers
- Complete knowledge of front‑of‑house standards
- Correct maintenance and use of food serving/preparation equipment
- Experience with point‑of‑sale procedures
