Robert Half is looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a finance team at our manufacturing industry client in the Orange, CT area. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a consistent approach to managing invoice and payment activity. The position plays an important part in keeping accounts payable operations accurate, timely, and compliant while supporting broader accounting needs.

Responsibilities:

- Review and enter supplier invoices accurately, ensuring required approvals and general ledger coding are completed before payment is issued.

- Compare vendor statements against internal records, investigate mismatches, and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.

- Coordinate payment processing through checks, electronic payments, and wire transfers while maintaining an organized payment calendar.

- Maintain complete and orderly accounts payable documentation, including invoice support, payment records, and transaction history.

- Partner with departments across the business to obtain missing paperwork and address billing questions that affect timely processing.

- Assist with month-end activities by reconciling payable balances and preparing reports on outstanding obligations.

- Produce recurring accounts payable reporting, such as aging summaries and projected cash disbursement needs.

- Follow company procedures and applicable financial controls to support accuracy, compliance, and proper recordkeeping.

- Provide documentation and transaction support during audit reviews and contribute to other accounting tasks as business needs require.

Our client is open to recently graduated accounting graduates who would like to get their foot into the door with a position in an accounting department or an establish AP Specialist with manufacturing industry experience who can hit the ground running!

Ideal experience:

- 3+ years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.

- Hands-on experience processing invoices, including validation of approvals and account coding.

- Working knowledge of payment execution, including check runs and other common disbursement methods.

- Ability to reconcile vendor statements and research discrepancies with accuracy and professionalism.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed financial records and supporting documentation.

- Proficiency in preparing accounts payable reports, including aging analysis and payment-related summaries.

- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
