Salary Range: $85,000 to $107,375 (dependent on experience and location)

Job SummaryThe engineer will review, analyze and coordinate moderate to complex planned construction projects, maintenance requirements and responses to system disturbances related to the operation of the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) System. Approve planned outages and clearance requests. Coordinate work with other departments within UI and other outside system operators (e.g., ISO, CONVEX, NUSCO). Work is to be completed with minimal guidance.
Must be available for on-call as necessary.
- Perform moderately complex system analyses, design and calculations using standard methodology & principles and other viable approaches.
- Develop alternative methods or design concepts to resolve problems or improve processes/services.
- Solve moderately complex system operating problems, e.g., outages, system disturbances, power quality, load flow studies, maintenance recommendations.
- Prepare, maintain, and understand drawings (e.g., schematics, one-line diagrams). Develop and specify equipment, assemble documents and other requirements for assignments of moderate to complex difficulty.
- Represent OES on assigned project teams.
- Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and guide others on OES issues (e.g., review and evaluate proposals and projects).
- Promote cross-functional teamwork, assist in guiding and mentoring engineers in OES.
- Work independently to address standard and non-standard system operating situations.
- Apply design standards, industry codes, design criteria, guidelines & UI policies/procedures.
- Develop business cases and manage small projects/processes/initiatives or teams.
- Coordinate phases of OES work for assigned portions of a project/program.
- Plan, schedule, monitor, control budget/estimates for assigned tasks and/or projects.
- Possess in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in distribution design and operations, along with related business practices and procedures (e.g., design criteria, standards, NESC).

Theoretical engineering knowledge in planning, operations and engineering design; analytic, modeling & calculation; understanding of the business model; global view of the business (cross-functional collaboration, knowledge growth). - Practical engineering experience: Planning, operations and engineering design, construction; field experience; standardization; perform economic analyses of engineering alternatives, develop business cases and defend in front of stakeholders.
- Engineering documentation: Ability to document and interpret engineering documentation; review and approve others' work for compliance.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance environment: Local, state and federal regulatory standards and requirements.
BS/BA Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university plus 2-5+ years’ experience performing engineering duties, or an A.S. Electrical Engineering degree plus 9 years’ experience in Engineering with UI Engineering Training Curriculum.
