Job Summary

The Sr. Manager, Infrastructure, Technology & Operations is the technical owner of all network and telecommunication infrastructure deployed in Avangrid. This role includes design and optimization of the company’s network infrastructure ensuring the right levels of redundancy and reliability. Integrated within the Network Engineering team as part of the Technology, Platforms and Operations (TPO) team, the manager is responsible for analyzing, designing, managing, configuring, and maintaining a complex, secure, and robust network across 500+ nodes nationwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technical aspects across datacenter network, enterprise corporate connectivity, cloud network technologies, wireless LAN infrastructure, DNS, SDN, SD‑WAN technologies.
  • Define technological direction in accordance with Avangrid Standards; act as escalation point for technical items.
  • Deliver operational stability and reliability, identify opportunities to improve efficiency for corporate applications.
  • Define and execute programs and projects for lifecycle management (hardware & software), patching, maintenance, and roadmap for future growth.
  • Provide leadership and oversight on engineering readiness, pilot programs, technology adoption, service delivery, and support.
  • Set obsolescence guidelines, manage risk register and mitigation.
  • Lead cloud computing initiatives, develop strategy, and assess economic & technical options.
  • Manage a skilled technical team – prioritize, monitor performance, assign tasks, report status, and develop staff through coaching.
  • Oversee security capabilities for network components, ensuring security from design.
  • Champion best practices, enabling rapid technology adoption while maintaining compliance and user needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Security Systems, or related field and at least 10 years of relevant experience (education/experience combination may be considered).
  • Minimum two years as a Technology Manager with strategic project execution, planning, risk and change management, and stakeholder influence.
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams in routing, switching, enterprise wireless, telecommunications, VoIP, SIP, and Cisco voice infrastructure.
  • History of managing complex efforts with demanding customers.
  • Proven executive‑level reporting experience.
  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize, coordinate multiple activities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Mentoring and developing less experienced team members.
  • Commitment to personnel safety and IT security.
  • Travel within US and to Europe may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree.
