The Production Buyer - Planner is responsible for supporting the site in procurement of all materials required to complete fabrication and assembly in accordance with due dates driven by the Master Schedule and Production site demands.

  • This includes purchasing inventory, procuring and processing subcontracting / outsourcing and services, and production planning and inventory analysis.

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Purchasing - Direct:
    Plan and execute procurement of materials required for inventory.
  • Ensure ERP system is updated timely. Monitor open purchase orders and expedite as required to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Revise and update orders as necessary.
  • Proactively communicate material and component availability issues.
  • Negotiate pricing and report cost savings. Maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers to confirm production/shipping schedules. Set up vendors.
  • Procure subcontracted items and facilitate product movement to outside suppliers.
  • Monitor open purchase orders and expedite as required to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Place scrap/raw material refining orders, repair and maintenance orders, and order supplies as required.
  • Maintain MRP system data to ensure effective planning of future requirements.
  • Conduct material analysis of inventory and develop forecasts to communicate with suppliers and vendors.
  • Release and print work orders, complete routing modifications, and update work order validity.
  • Analyze and close work orders, scan and scrap work orders, and review monthly work order variances.
