Job Purpose for Dredge Quality Control
  • Managing and implementing the Quality Control Plan (QCP) and any related technical plans for Federal (USACE) and related (i.e. FDEP, FIND, etc.) coastal engineering/construction projects. Such projects include, but are not limited to maintenance dredging, new dredging, dredge material management area (DMMA) maintenance/construction, beach re-nourishment, rip-rap revetments, slope stabilization, stormwater retention/detention pond maintenance, water control structure installation/maintenance, marina maintenance, etc.
  • Preparation of the Quality Control Plan (QCP) and related technical documents for the above listed types of clients and projects.
  • Document input and control of USACE’s Resident Management System (RMS) for Federal (USACE) projects and P6.
  • Working directly with operations engineering department and survey division to collect, analyze and present all data/information related to projects with respect to quality control.
  • Working directly with company management on analyzing technical data and technical reports.
Key Responsibilities
  • Managing technical construction aspects of marine and coastal engineering projects.
  • Provide technical recommendations to onsite staff and management to set and meet the client’s schedule, goals, and objectives.
  • Analyzing detailed working drawings and assisting with preparation and/or review of plans, specifications, and permit documents.
  • Working with technical staff to develop alternative design and construction methods and materials.
  • Resolving technical conflicts that arise during projects.
  • Training others as required.
  • Traveling and remain on project site for moderate periods of time 14 days.
  • Monitor quality installation of materials and procedures per manufacture specs daily, along with ongoing inspections to minimize the need for corrections and punch-list items.
  • Maintaining the submittal registry.
  • Keeping up to date with new and emerging technology.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledges, Abilities and Skills
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of marine construction, engineering, and surveying.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and municipal rules, regulations, and ordinances and/or ability to research/learn quickly.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
  • Ability to analyze engineering and surveying data and draw sound conclusions.
  • Skills for use and care of engineering and surveying tools.
  • Ability to operate or learn how to operate hand-held GPS RTK rover (survey grade GPS).
  • Ability to prepare and submit clear, concise reports both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and the general public.
  • Ability to operate survey and work vessels.
  • Ability to drive standard sized company truck and trailer/launch vessel.
  • 3 years’ experience minimum in QC or QC related position, preferably actual QCM on USACE project.
  • 3 years’ experience minimum working directly with AutoCAD, HYPACK and Microsoft Word/Excel software.
  • USACE CQM-C Certification preferred.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver’s license.
  • TWIC Card required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to board a vessel and climb vertical ladders.
  • Must be able to work outside for entire shift in all weather conditions (hot, humid, cold, wet) required.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
