The City of Orange Fire Department is actively recruiting people that have the desire to be part of a team that assists the citizens of Orange during an emergency event.
The Fire Department currently has 37 paid positions and typically has employment opportunities each year. On average, the City of Orange hires one replacement firefighter each year when an employee retires or moves to another job.
QualificationsApplicant must be a US Citizen between the ages of 18 through 35. Applicants must provide a high school diploma or GED. Applicant must have a TCFP Basic Firefighter Certification and DSHS Basic EMT Certification. No criminal history and no use of illegal drugs. Applicant must be able to pass a polygraph, psychological, and physical examination.
Miscellaneous InformationFirefighters work a 24‑hour shift starting at 7 A.M. and are off duty for 48 hours. Firefighters get a 5‑day break 6 times per year. Firefighters accrue 11 (24‑hour) holidays per year. Firefighters get between 6 to 15 (24‑hour) vacation days per year. The City of Orange pays 100 % of every firefighter’s health, dental, and life insurance. The City of Orange pays a monthly stipend for advanced certifications from TCFP and DSHS.
Basic uniforms and equipment are provided to each firefighter.
