What a day looks like
Lay out and weld structural steel plates, stiffeners, bulkheads, and other vessel elements for ship repair and new-build projects.
Interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and written specifications to plan each weld sequence.
Prepare joints and surfaces by grinding, cleaning, and removing damaged material prior to welding.
Execute welds per approved procedures and project requirements; maintain consistency and quality.
Inspect completed welds, address discontinuities, and perform touch-ups as directed.
Coordinate closely with structural fitters, supervisors, and other trades to hit milestones.
Adhere to shipyard safety practices, hot-work protocols, and PPE expectations at all times.
What you bring
Hands-on structural welding experience within a shipyard or marine construction/repair setting.
Ability to read welding symbols and follow both written and verbal job instructions.
Proficiency with welding equipment, grinders, and related tools—used safely and effectively.
Capability to meet welding qualifications and pass applicable weld tests.
Dependable attendance with a team-first mindset and a commitment to safety and quality.
Ability to perform essential job duties, including climbing, bending, and working at heights or in confined spaces assigned, with or without reasonable accommodation.
