Job Description
Summary:
Appropriately assigns patient beds and directs and supervises nursing service functions and hospital-wide activities during evening and night hours.
This role involves directing nursing service functions, bed assignment, and hospital-wide activities during evening and night hours, while ensuring patient care needs are met and hospital operations run smoothly.
Responsibilities- Appropriately and on a timely basis assigns beds based on the diagnosis and needs of the particular patient.
- Makes regular rounds, proactively identifies problems, communicates between departments, resolves conflicts, and reports; evaluates and adjusts staff as appropriate.
- Responds to emergency codes and patient concerns; serves as a resource for staff and physicians after hours.
- Maintains written documentation as required by the department and medical center.
- Processes burial transits and notifies appropriate funeral facilities.
- Regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne pathogens and/or diseases.
- Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances; may be required to handle emergency or crisis situations.
- Involves prolonged standing and walking; may assist with lifting and moving patients.
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may supervise as many as 150 staff members providing administrative direction on the evening and night shift.
Qualifications- Associate degree in nursing required. After November 1, 2024, must obtain a bachelor’s degree in nursing within 2 years of hire.
- Current license in the state of South Carolina as a registered nurse.
- Two to three years of related nursing experience; three years of hospital supervisor experience preferred.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
