South Carolina State University has been a cornerstone of Orangeburg and a pillar of the HBCU tradition since 1896. As a Campus Security Guard on the Campus Police Department, you'll help protect the people, property, and legacy that make SC State a place where students thrive.
Your Role on CampusWorking full-time across scheduled shifts, you'll be a visible and trusted presence across the SC State campus. Your day-to-day will include:
- Patrolling campus buildings, grounds, parking areas, and residence halls to deter and respond to security incidents
- Monitoring access points and enforcing university policies to maintain a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff
- Responding to calls for assistance, documenting incidents accurately, and liaising with local law enforcement when required
- Supporting crowd management at campus events, including evening and weekend functions
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Current or ability to obtain a South Carolina Security Guard registration
- Valid South Carolina driver's license with a clean driving record
- Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related public safety role
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for accurate incident reporting
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
