Converting Bag Machine Operator

Direct Plastics is part of the Shields business unit and is one of the leading North American producers of flexible packaging, with substantial capabilities in blown-film extrusion, printing, bag making and other converting processes. Our expanded capabilities include custom film and bag, multilayer extrusion, high definition flexographic print, lamination, high barrier bags for foods and sauces, mail and courier bags, reclosable zipper, hot fill and chill packaging, bakery and tortilla packaging, ice bags, roll stock and stretch hooder products.

• Carry out production, inspection, packaging and machine operation duties.
• Read and verify line orders/dockets.
• Set up machinery and ensure all materials are readily available.
• Effectively monitor production equipment.
• Complete daily production paperwork.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Follow established safety rules and regulations.

• Able to work 8 hour rotating shift schedule
• Must be Eligible to work in Canada
• Must have reliable attendance
• Work overtime as required.
• Experience in flexible packaging printing is an asset.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
• Fluent in English - speaking, writing, reading
• Excellent work ethic and an excellent attitude with the ability to learn quickly
• Must be a self-starter and have the ability to contribute and work in a team environment
• Being mechanically inclined is an asset.
• Attention to detail is essential
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation.
