Media Assistant

THIS POSITION IS OPEN FOR CURRENT OREGON CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT EMPLOYEES ONLY Position

Description:

Under the direct supervision of the District Media Specialist, the District Media Assistant performs:

• One-to-one or small group assistance.
• Library/media clerical work.
• Other activities as assigned in the library/media center.

• Must have completed two (2) years post high school and earned an Associate’s Degree or equivalent.
• Must have strong secretarial, computer and student-supervision skills.
• Ability to word process rapidly and accurately and be willing to operate a variety of instructional media equipment.
• Experience with library circulation and automated library system preferred.
• Ability to maintain clerical records and file alphabetically.
• Familiarity and enjoyment of children's books.
• Ability to assist teachers with student activities relating to the library.
• Promote and assist in use and maintenance of equipment and library-related technology.
• Experience working with students preferred but not required.
• Must have ability to work harmoniously with teachers, students, and other staff.
• Must have ability to take direction appropriately, changing tasks as necessary.
• Must be comfortable reading aloud to groups of children, if asked.
• Must demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.

NUMBER OF HOURS PER DAY: 7.0 HOURS PER DAY

NUMBER OF DAYS WORKED PER SCHOOL YEAR: 186 DAYS PER YEAR

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $20.26 - $28.52 PER HOUR (RANGE 11)
