DescriptionThe On-Call Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) provides integrated behavioral health care to adult and pediatric patients within primary care settings or SBHC on an as-needed basis. The role supports clinic coverage for staff absences, high-volume days, or other staffing needs, ensuring patients receive timely and high-quality services.

EssentialJob Duties
- Provide integrated behavioral health services within primary care, including brief assessments, targeted interventions, patient/family education, and consultation with primary care providers.
- Deliver services across the lifespan including pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, obstetric, and family populations.
- Support clinic teams by covering patient visits, warm handoffs, and urgent consults when regularly scheduled BHCs are unavailable.
- Manage a high-volume, fast-paced schedule with the ability to pivot between direct patient care and provider consultation throughout the day.
- Assess and manage suicidal/homicidal risk, substance use concerns, and safety issues, collaborating with crisis resources when needed.
- Document efficiently in the electronic health record (Epic EHR), including concurrent documentation during visits.
- Provide culturally responsive care and demonstrate knowledge of how socioeconomic, cultural, and systemic factors affect patient health.
- Adapt quickly to varying clinic environments, workflows, and team dynamics.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
- Master’s Degree in a mental health-related field (Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work) or PsyD required.
- Current Oregon license (LPC, LCSW, LMFT) required. Or board approved associate CSWA, or LPC‑associate.
- Strong knowledge of integrated behavioral health practices and evidence-based brief interventions.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to different clinic workflows on short notice.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with diverse primary care teams.
- High comfort level with technology, electronic health records, and concurrent documentation.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and culturally responsive care.
- On-call, as-needed position; hours and schedule vary based on clinic coverage needs.
- May include same-day requests for coverage.
- Requires travel to multiple clinic sites; some virtual coverage may be assigned.
- Position involves working in a fast-paced environment with high patient volume and frequent transitions between patient-facing and provider-facing roles.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods; occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.
