Position: Nurse Practitioner (NP) - PRN

Overview

Naph Care is partnering with Everhealth to hire a PRN Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our team of medical professionals in Oregon City, Oregon, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals currently incarcerated in the Clackamas County Jail.

Pay rates range from $77.90 to $80.00 an hour based on license type, certification, shift, site needs, licensure, and experience.

As a Correctional Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to residents. In a controlled environment where security is a top priority, you will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with a range of medical conditions and chronic illnesses, prescribe medications, respond to emergencies, and more. This is a unique position where you can make a difference for a diverse population with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

Job Duties / Responsibilities

  • Conducting physical examinations, developing treatment plans and monitoring patients
  • Managing acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes
  • Administering medications and providing instructions to patients
  • Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs and medical histories
  • Providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services
  • Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities
  • Educating patients on preventive care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention
  • Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols, while working with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals to ensure safety and well-being
  • Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting relevant information
  • Conducting rounds, evaluating patients returning from off-site treatment
  • Admitting and discharging patients from the facility
Qualifications

Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements

  • Advanced nursing education (Master's or Doctorate)
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Current unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner in Oregon
  • Current DEA registration
  • An appropriate collaborative agreement with the on-site Physician
  • Must possess and maintain BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; AHA or American Red Cross, preferred
  • Board certification recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties
  • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening

Experience / Skills

  • Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently and in a team
  • Experience working in a correctional facility or acute care center is a plus
  • Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies and legal requirements
  • Physical Capabilities: Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR while maintaining good balance and endurance during a shift.
