Collections Specialist

Description

We are looking for a Collections Specialist to support receivables and payment recovery efforts for a company in Milwaukie, Oregon. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can balance customer service with consistent follow-through while helping reduce past-due accounts. The person in this role will work closely with tenants, vendors, and internal partners to address billing concerns, maintain account accuracy, and recommend practical solutions for delinquent balances.

Responsibilities:

- Review overdue accounts and propose appropriate next steps to improve payment status and reduce outstanding balances.

- Communicate with customers by phone and through written correspondence to resolve billing questions and secure payment commitments.

- Maintain accurate records of collection activity, account updates, and follow-up actions within the CRM system.

- Partner with colleagues and external contacts in a detail-oriented, team-focused manner to support efficient account resolution.

- Handle inbound calls related to account status, payment issues, and billing inquiries with a service-oriented approach.

- Monitor receivables aging and escalate concerns when patterns of delinquency require additional corrective action.

- Coordinate with billing and accounts receivable teams to verify charges, research discrepancies, and support account reconciliation.

Requirements - Experience in collections, accounts receivable, or billing support roles.

- Working knowledge of CRM systems and the ability to document account activity accurately.

- Familiarity with collection procedures and best practices for managing delinquent accounts.

- Ability to handle inbound calls professionally while addressing sensitive payment discussions.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.

- Detail-oriented approach to tracking account status, follow-up items, and payment arrangements.

- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment with internal and external stakeholders.
