Description Color Design ExecutionExecutes color designs, finalizes product details, and proactively follows through on color execution for each product. Actively seeks expert input from color design and category organizations to develop appropriate solutions. Reviews all samples to achieve marketable solutions, coordinating with design, marketing, and development teams. Clearly communicates all changes for final confirmation and is responsible for color in the final product result.
Maintains color calendar, timelines, and deadlines for the category. Develops line art, color design server, GPIN, PDM, merchandising line, cutting samples, and works with material consultants to coordinate materials for products.
Plans product details by collaborating with design, product marketing, and development/material consultants to focus color solutions for market success. Gathers category‑specific information on consumers, channels, and markets. Develops appropriate solutions regarding quality, cost/value, manufacturability, sustainability, and merchandising solutions for market success.
Color SolutionsCreates and executes innovative, retailable color solutions for category or gender‑specific lines. Together with the Color Design Director, Sr. Color Designer, or Color Designer II, creates seasonal category‑specific direction of color, materials, and graphics that reflect design philosophy, product performance, and appeal to targeted consumers. Comfortably creates a category line each season and understands how color, design, market, and lifestyle trends influence and impact the category, applying knowledge appropriately.
ConsumerResearch
Knows the consumer and their culture, understands consumer and brand positioning needs, and studies competitor products, consumer retail habits, color, and market trends. Applies insights from the consumer perspective into color solutions.
Presentations & CommunicationProvides presentations and communicates category‑specific color direction and color merchandising direction of the seasonal line to appropriate groups as needed.
Skill DevelopmentDevelops excellence as a color designer. Together with Color Designers and Sr. Designers, advances the value of color to Nike by growing functional expertise in materials, special effects, technology, advanced development, presentation, and tools. Proactively works with management to advance and build color design skills, experiences, and product & process knowledge.
