POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title Substitute Teacher Department District Office

Reports To Principal/Assistant Principal Status Certified

Always foster team environment to accomplish established goals and objectives. Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.

Accountability Directly accountable for individual roles and responsibilities as assigned by the District Office and contained in this job description.

Requirements Current Arizona Teaching Certificate - Current Fingerprint Card
-Elementary through K-8 Teaching Experience - Follow Written and Spoken Directions
-Strong Attention to Detail - Team Player/Leadership Qualities
-Handle Multiple Priorities and Tasks - Excellent Oral and Written Skills
-On-Call for Work Assignments

• Accept teaching assignments as required with limited notice.
• Create classroom environment favorable to learning.
• Establish effective rapport with students, staff, and parents as necessary.
• Teach to current Arizona State Standards.
• Sign in and out with Elementary Secretary, complete and submit payroll paperwork, return room key each day.

• Continue teaching lesson plans as outlined by regular classroom teacher and/or create lesson plans as needed.
• Instruct pupils in reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, music and/or other appropriate learning activities as specified by Arizona Board of Education.
• Provide individual and small group instruction to adapt to curriculum needs of each pupil.
• Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities during assigned workday.
• Administer group standardized tests in accordance with teacher’s lesson plans.
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior required to achieve a functional classroom learning atmosphere.
• Complete any other duties as assigned by Superintendent, Principal, or Assistant Principal.
• Take accurate attendance records.
