General DescriptionThe job of a teacher is to provide general education instruction to youth enrolled in a behavioral self-contained program. This position will work collaboratively with special educators and mental health professionals to provide a cohesive program for students who are unable to access the educational program in a less restrictive environment due to their behavioral and emotional needs.
The teacher facilitates student success in academic and interpersonal skills through documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of students; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, families, specialists, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals. The teacher will instruct and supervise a diverse group of students by establishing a positive, respectful learning environment while promoting high standards of performance for all students, regardless of their background and developmental levels.
