SENIOR CDM PRINCIPAL DESIGNER - LONDON OR BICESTER

- Plan, manage and monitor the Pre-Construction phase, including co‑ordinating Health & Safety.
- Fulfil duties of Principal Designer under CDM 2015, carrying out role of CDM‑Advisor to support the client.
- Ensure coordination among client, designers, contractors and internal multidisciplinary team. Check relevant duties are complied with.
- Assist client in identifying, obtaining and collating pre‑construction information.
- Provide pre‑construction information to duty holders and relevant parties.
- Ensure designers comply with their duties and cooperate with each other.
- Undertake and co‑ordinate safety by design review workshops producing a meaningful Design Risk Assessment.
- Attend client meetings during all phases of project and advise client and design team on Health & Safety guidelines.
- Guide design team and client through Health & Safety requirements and RIBA stages.
- Liaise with client representatives, Principal Contractor and contractors regarding health and safety.
- Review Principal Contractor’s information, including Construction Phase Health & Safety plan, Prepare the Health & Safety file, Submit F10 on behalf of client, Undertake CDM site audits on behalf of client, Undertake lessons learned workshops, Undertake audits, Review and identify surveys etc required.
- Produce and issue fee schedule and responsible for project reporting internally.
- Responsible for internal project reporting on progress, close out and supporting invoicing.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role focusing on Construction Design Management.
- Data Centre and/or large scale infrastructure project experience.
- Stable career background.
- Knowledge of MEP building services useful.
- NEBOSH Diploma beneficial.
- Experience of construction site safety.
- Experience of appropriate H&S procedures in an engineering consultancy environment.
- Understanding of UK Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and applicability to design consultants.
- Understanding risk assessment and mitigation methods.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills written and oral.
- Experience of having worked for an international consultancy desirable.
- Sound knowledge and working application of key H&S issues and legislation and application to design risk workshops at all RIBA stages.
- Knowledge of MS Office applications word, excel etc.
- Good understanding of British Standards.
- Ability to prioritize own workload and work to deadlines essential and to work under own initiative.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Fluent English speaker essential with other language skills desirable.
- Chairing/facilitation of meeting skills.
- Ability to input into group training and deliver if required for CDM and designer duties.
- Working knowledge of CDM, PUWER, COSHH, LOLER, MHSWR, BSA Regulations.
- Ability to co‑ordinate with designers and contractors.
- Delivery of contract and programme management – managing contractors’ progress, information and document flow.
- Act in an ethical manner and follow the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines.
- Background in consulting or construction preferred.
- Good understanding of H&S within an international business / consultancy.
