Electrical Project Engineer – Georgia‑Pacific LLC

Join our Toledo, OR mill as an Electrical Project Engineer. This role focuses on electrical, instrumentation, and controls support for project engineers in a fully integrated brown paper production operation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide electrical engineering subject‑matter expertise to project managers, process controls engineers, maintenance, and reliability teams.
  • Produce electrical and instrumentation design packages for small mill engineering projects.
  • Coordinate additional outside electrical engineering as needed to support larger projects.
  • Support the mill’s electrical power distribution engineer with troubleshooting and maintenance of power systems.
  • Project‑manage small electrical‑based engineering projects, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and construction management.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on electrical and instrumentation reliability.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
  • Three (3) or more years of electrical design of power, instrumentation, and controls in an industrial environment, including power distribution and control systems.
  • Experience creating and modifying electrical AutoCAD drawings.
  • Project‑management experience in an industrial setting.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in pulp and paper manufacturing technology and systems.
  • Five or more years as an electrical engineer in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Experience with valves and instrumentation specifications.
  • Knowledge of three‑phase power distribution, variable‑frequency drives, AC/DC drives, and PLCs.
  • Experience with reliability‑improvement tools such as RCFA and preventive maintenance.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Project.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
