• Provides informal instruction to include accident prevention, safe working practices, prevention methods, risk reduction techniques, occupational disease/illnesses prevention, emergency procedures, and accident investigation.
• Develops and implements policies and work practices to assure safe, healthful, and efficient operations within the District/Field for permanent and seasonal employees, and volunteers, and the public.
• Provides technical safety training to supervisors and employees using a wide variety of materials, publications, exhibits, protective devices, and visual aids.
• Implements policies/programs for safety/health program responsibilities and accountability, training, accident prevention methods/techniques, risk reduction, occupational disease prevention, emergency procedures, and investigation.
• Evaluates/investigates operations involving hazardous materials, fire, forestry, transportation, use of specialized equipment, protective equipment, recreation, facilities, and road maintenance for hazard control.
• May be subject to 24-Hour Call Back.
• GS-11:
  Familiar with Safety Management Systems to analyze mishap trending data to determine contributing factors to devise measures which are feasible in controlling or eliminating actual or potential hazards to public visitors and employees.
