School Based Counselor - MHS II, III or IV (Part Time)
Job Title: School Based Counselor – Mental Health Specialist III
Location: Ione School District
FLSA: .6 FTE, exempt (24 hours weekly during school season)
Supervisor: Clinical Supervisor
Pay Grade: B9 - B12 (prorated for .6 FTE)
Position Overview: Provides culturally competent, evidence-based behavioral health treatment to students in Ione School District, working in partnership with school staff and community agencies to meet behavioral health needs.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver clinical services including screening, assessment, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and preventive education.
- Coordinate case planning and collaborate with agency employees, contractors, and community partners.
- Serve as liaison between students, families, and schools; advocate for clients as appropriate.
- Participate in supervision sessions and maintain professional clinical practice.
- Provide behavioral health and addiction education to schools, community groups, and public agencies.
- Handle application, hold, and civil commitment processes per OAR’s.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and adhere to confidentiality regulations.
- Respond to school crises and provide coping skills training.
- Provide after-hours emergency services on a rotating basis.
- Support program development, evaluation, and revisions.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field (or ability to obtain within 4 months).
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (or ability to obtain within 4 months).
- Certified Mental Health Investigator (or eligibility to obtain).
- Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor or Certified Gambling Addiction Counselor (or eligibility to obtain).
- Knowledge of OARs and recovery model.
- Strong communication, cultural competence, and teamwork skills.
- Computer literacy (word processing, data entry).
- Valid driver’s license and personal auto insurance for business travel.
- Ability to pass background checks and ongoing monitoring.
