Duration: 3+ month contract
Base pay range$70.00/hr - $76.00/hr
Key ResponsibilitiesThis project‑based role will focus on executing a variety of technical accounting initiatives over the coming months.
- Performing ASC 606 revenue recognition analyses and drafting supporting memos for multiple subsidiaries;
- Conducting goodwill impairment assessments;
- Preparing and updating purchase price accounting (PPA) workbooks and documenting measurement period adjustments;
- Reviewing business contracts for accounting implications; and
- Supporting other ad hoc technical accounting projects, often in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
The role will also serve as a consultative resource for complex technical accounting matters and business transactions across the organization.
- Researching and documenting technical accounting issues,
- Providing recommendations to management, and
- Potentially partnering with Financial Reporting Analysts to ensure external disclosures are complete and compliant with U.S. GAAP.
The position may also involve monitoring emerging FASB and SEC guidance, participating in the external audit process as a technical resource, and supporting internal control procedures related to Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance.
Strong leadership, sound judgment, and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety and integrity are essential.
QualificationsRequired:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and active CPA license.
- Minimum of five years of relevant accounting experience; public accounting experience preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and consolidation principles.
- Demonstrated ability to perform technical accounting research and draft clear, concise memos.
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to maintain a strategic perspective.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Strong ethical standards aligned with the Company’s values.
Preferred:
- Experience in utility operations and familiarity with utility accounting and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Hands‑on experience with ASC 606 implementation and revenue recognition analysis.
- Background in business combinations, purchase accounting, and measurement period adjustments.
- Knowledge of SEC reporting requirements and disclosures.
- Experience using SAP or similar ERP/financial systems.
- Availability to work onsite at the Portland Headquarters at least two days per week.
- Flexibility to extend the contract term if needed.
