Middle School Math Teacher
Temporary for 2024-25 School Year

POSITION TYPE: Licensed
START DATE: ASAP
WORK DAYS: 190 days (if work begins in August)
PAY: for the 2024-25 school year, $45,171.49 - $88,774.53; placement is dependent on experience and education level and will be prorated by start date; we also pay your PERS retirement contribution.

This position is subject to a funded budget based on staffing needs. Specific assignments are subject to change.

Sublimity School is seeking to fill a temporary teaching position for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year. Our mission is to help students reach their full potential and become productive citizens. We seek a full-time teacher to join our collaborative and diverse team. Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, positive, and passionate about their field. This position will teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math classes, as well as 8th grade advisory and electives.

Sublimity School is a unique K-8 school located approximately 20 minutes east of Salem, Oregon. While our students often perform well on standardized tests and other academic measurements, our primary goal is to help them perform well in life. We are fortunate to have the support of a very involved community, reflected by our PTC's involvement and financial support. Our staff sets high expectations for students, creates intentional relationships within the community, and mentors each other.

Job Responsibilities

Plan and implement a program of study that follows state and district goals/curriculum and meets students' individual needs and development.

Guide the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals by establishing clear objectives for all instructional units, projects, and lessons.

Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the public, both orally and in writing.

Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.

Establish and clarify acceptable standards for student behavior and demonstrate effective classroom management.

Diagnose the needs and abilities of students and provide appropriate learning activities.

Assess student progress regularly and maintain records as required by law and district policy.

Maintain excellence in instruction with a focus on student outcomes.

Utilize age-appropriate instructional strategies.

Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

Uphold high ethical standards.

Follow established procedures for specific responsibilities of the position.

Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.

Required Qualifications

Current valid Oregon Teaching License with the appropriate authorization for middle-level mathematics or the ability to obtain one.

Knowledge of Professional Learning Communities.

Ability to create a safe and orderly classroom.

Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.

High standards of moral and ethical behavior.

Regular attendance and punctuality.

Ability to work harmoniously with others.
