Controls Engineer

Position Overview

Mac Donald‑Miller Facility Solutions ("Mac Miller") is a leading mechanical contracting firm in the Northwest, specializing in HVAC, plumbing, and automation system solutions for commercial buildings. This Controls Engineer role will join the senior controls team, collaborating across sales, mechanical engineering, field operations, and energy teams to deliver high‑quality control design and commissioning for new construction, retrofits, and service projects.

• Read, analyze, and interpret plans, submittals, mechanical specifications, contract documents, and control drawings.
• Perform hardware, software, and network‑level commissioning for Building Automation Systems on new construction and retrofit projects.
• Interpret project financials, understand engineering concepts, and assess cost impacts.
• Develop and/or write sequences of operations and procedure manuals.
• Use existing practices and create new processes to ensure cost‑effective controls engineering while delivering excellent customer service and meeting all legal requirements.
• Effectively present information to management, customers, and field operations.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Industrial Automation & Controls (Mechanical or Electrical preferred) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school.
• 3‑5 years of experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, or equivalent design tools.
• Prior exposure to commercial HVAC system installation and operation.
• Familiarity with commercial building construction, renovation, and/or retrofit work.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
• Strong communicator, goal‑oriented, and capable of working in a lean, results‑oriented environment.

Salary Range: $88,000 to $112,000 per year (actual pay is based on experience and skills).
