Position:
Manager, Women’s & Newborn Health (Short-Term 6 months)
This short-term Manager position sits within the Newborn Health subteam of the Programs Team on global Women’s & Newborn Health (WNH). The Manager will collaborate with global stakeholders to problem-solve market barriers and increase access to critical life-saving newborn care interventions. The Manager will work with relevant team members focused on newborn health access in countries, as well as CHAI’s market-shaping, clinical, and M&E/research teams.
The ideal candidate has strong analytical, writing and storytelling, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills, and can develop strategic insights from diverse country contexts into compelling, visual presentations for senior decision-makers. The role requires independence, ability to balance multiple priorities, and effective collaboration across stakeholders. The position reports to the Director of the Programs Team within the WNH Team while the Newborn Health Senior Program Manager is on leave.
Base location can be the US or a CHAI program country in Africa, pending Country Director approval.
- Support development and execution of end-to-end program strategy for newborn-related work streams
- Ensure plans are implemented and integrated with other team priorities; elevate risks to internal stakeholders as needed
- Shape materials, deliverables and key messages for senior internal and external stakeholders
- Cultivate and demonstrate understanding of newborn health priorities, product strategies and partner landscapes
- Build and maintain knowledge on global publications and data sources for analyses
- Develop and foster relationships with key senior external stakeholders in newborn health
- Work with country teams to input into country strategies on newborn health; support achievement of shared goals
- Conduct grant coordination and management for key grants, as relevant
- Execute other tasks as requested based on need and program priorities
- Travel to meet with global stakeholders and CHAI focus countries as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of 6 years of experience in a demanding and fast-paced environment, or a master’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience
- Professional services experience (e.g., management consulting, investment banking) is an asset
- Programmatic knowledge of newborn health and/or vertical transmission is an asset
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills
- Excellent Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to use data to inform program development
- Ability to synthesize evidence into effective presentations and actionable recommendations
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Willingness to work with a geographically dispersed team across multiple time zones
- Diplomatic interpersonal skills and ability to manage multicultural, multi-stakeholder situations
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with a strong work ethic and integrity
