We’re seeking a Renewal Underwriter who succeeds in a fast-paced environment that takes true ownership of their task. This role is ideal for someone who is analytical, organized, and process-driven with experience in handling high-volume renewals in both brokerage and in-house environments.
You’ll be responsible for managing a monthly volume of 200+ renewals across multiple lines of business. This includes creating renewal strategies, refining internal workflows, and driving continuous improvement in how we service and retain our book of business.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and execute 200+ renewal accounts monthly across both brokerage and in-house business lines
- Evaluate existing policies for renewal and determine appropriate pricing, terms, and coverage recommendations
- Coordinate with producers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate renewal processing
- Own and build out renewal workflows and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Create and maintain reports to track renewal performance, retention, and pipeline status
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in renewal operations
- Maintain compliance with underwriting guidelines, company policies, and industry regulations
- Act as the go-to subject matter expert on all things renewals—no direct reports, but high accountability
Qualifications
- 2+ years of underwriting experience, ideally within the E&S or specialty insurance market
- Proven ability to manage high-volume workloads with accuracy and speed
- Strong understanding of insurance renewal cycles, policy documentation, and underwriting best practices
- Demonstrated experience in creating reports, SOPs, and process improvements
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Self-motivated and proactive able to “own your stuff” without being micromanaged
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and underwriting systems
