Education and Work ExperienceEducation:
Graduation from an accredited University with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business. MBA preferred.
Completion of either the CPA or CMA certificate. Current certification is required for the duration of employment.
Work/Professional
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years' experience in managerial accounting and supervisory experience and the ability to serve as a member of a leadership team.
The Divisional Finance Director (DFD) oversees the financial affairs and accounting of The Salvation Army Cascade Division. The DFD gives leadership and supervision to the Finance Department and is responsible for accounting, planning and reporting for the approximately 35 units within the Cascade Division. The DFD is a member of the leadership team and will help to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting as required.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Required
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) guidelines.
- Broad proficiency in Excel and Word and usable experience with Access and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Shelby and Vivid are beneficial.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Must adhere to all Salvation Army policies and procedures.
- Must maintain professional, courteous and cooperative manner with all internal personnel and outside contacts, demonstrating respect and a positive attitude toward them at all times during the workday.
- Must be cooperative, take initiative and be flexible in assisting others and to the best of the employee's ability, ensure accurate and timely work objectives.
- Must demonstrate dependability by establishing a regular, predictable work schedule, taking appropriate time for lunch and breaks, and by limiting personal business and socializing to break periods.
- A number of the duties associated with this position require handling items of a sensitive and thereby confidential nature involving the organization and its personnel. The highest level of security must be maintained in addressing oral and written communications as well as the filing of correspondence so as to protect the integrity of all concerned.
- Must possess the self-discipline necessary to perform job independently and reliability.
The DFD is the assets custodian of the Division and is responsible for all aspects of financial management and accounting including but not limited to:
- Advises the Divisional Secretary for Business and others in divisional administration on matters of fiscal policy and management of the division.
- Create management reports as assigned and is responsible to supervise management reporting including financial statements, audits and budgets.
- Provides oversight of accounting procedures throughout the division to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, FASB requirements, and Salvation Army policy to ensure accuracy, validity and consistency of accounting practices.
- Participates in and is responsible for oversight of all accounting within the Division internal bookkeeping systems, fiscal controls and management systems.
- Met monthly with Divisional Leaders to review Divisional finances and Estates/Reserve Accounts.
- Directs, leads, and coordinates the acquisition and distribution of the lease or purchase of vehicles for use in the Cascade Division.
