Education/experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years’ process operating experience preferred. Experience with mechanical equipment and mechanical aptitude.
- Responsible for daily operation of assigned plant unit. Monitors and controls the process for safe, efficient production of quality products.
- Take responsibility for maintaining a clean and safe work area with zero discharge to environment and maintain skills in firefighting and first aid.
- Control plant operations for maximum return on investment, product quality and safety.
- Suggest process improvements to maximize productivity, efficiency and environmentally enhance plant operation.
- Teach and instruct other Technicians as required during personnel rotations and training of new Technicians.
- Lubricate, adjust and maintain assigned equipment.
- Recognize abnormal operation and take corrective action according to general instructions. Obtain assistance from a Senior Technician or Operating Assistant if normal instructions are insufficient.
- Read, write and record operating data.
- Must have ability to do math to provide accurate plant chemical usages and inventories.
- Read, write and record maintenance data, and other information associated with assigned process unit, judging accuracy and completeness of data.
- Perform diversified manufacturing, shipping, laboratory or experimental operations according to instructions and standard procedures.
- Coordinate activities with other personnel and assist as appropriate.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment
- Requires lifting 50 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors
- Ability to work overtime, nights and weekends - Working schedule is 12-hour shifts rotating between days and nights - 24/7 operation
- Valid driver's license required
