The Nurse Manager-Perioperative Services is responsible for the overall planning, budgeting, staffing, performance, and operation of the assigned departments in collaboration with the Director of Perioperative Services and the Chief Nursing Officer for Madras. The position provides leadership and direction for the effective and efficient functioning of the Operating Rooms, Pre‑surgery, PACU, Central Processing, and Endoscopy on the Redmond and Madras Campuses and directly manages caregivers such as RNs and Surgical Technicians.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee operations of assigned departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations and resource availability 24/7.
  • Collaborate with staff to facilitate provision of patient care and ensure adequate staffing through schedule management.
  • Act as liaison to other hospital departments and outside entities; attend or delegate system‑wide initiatives and conferences.
  • Continuously evaluate AORN/ASPAN guidelines, ensuring hospital adherence and implementing corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with physician leaders and the executive team on business development, surgeon recruitment, and right‑sizing surgical care.
  • Ensure appropriate equipment and supplies, manage staffing and scheduling, and delegate related clerical functions.
  • Serve as real‑time resource, providing clinical expertise and problem‑solving on patient care, processes, and family issues.
  • Implement Joint Commission and other regulatory standards, policies, professional and legal aspects, measuring nursing process effectiveness.
  • Review data to ensure proper patient care and outcomes.
  • Track operational metrics: quality, first case on time starts, room turnaround, productivity, daily schedule, physician support, OR EMS, equipment PM.
  • Use business management tools to assure efficiency and productivity via schedule monitoring.
  • Ensure staffing plan meets patient care needs and productivity while maintaining customer service.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement, professional development, and activities that promote growth.
  • Manage patient experience by coordinating interdisciplinary team roles.
  • Develop and monitor budget, ensuring all operational targets are met.
  • Hire, coach, and monitor performance of direct reports to build a high‑performance team.
  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements and implement safety directives.
  • Provide customer service to promote goodwill, timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with teams to review processes and apply Lean principles for improvement.
  • Create a healing environment respecting individual wholeness and therapeutic presence.
  • Facilitate growth of a culturally competent team for diverse patients and families.
  • Support the vision, mission, and values of the organization at all times.
  • Champion continuous improvement and Lean principles with energy and enthusiasm.
  • Maintain a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
  • Conduct activities with professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with all regulations.
  • Perform additional duties of similar complexity as required.
Qualifications
  • Education –

    Required:

    Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a BSN.
  • Education – Preferred: Master’s degree in Nursing.


  • Licensure/Certification

    Required:

    Current licensure with the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
  • Licensure/Certification – Preferred: CNOR.
  • Experience –

    Required:

    5 years clinical nursing experience; 1 year nursing leadership experience.
  • Experience – Preferred: Nursing experience in a perioperative or procedural department; 3 years leadership experience.
