ADAY IN THE LIFE
Our Senior Forensic Chemist (Environmental Consulting) position can potentially work out of any of these locations… Remote (United States or Canada);
Valley Forge, PA;
Little Rock, AR. This position supports senior forensic chemistry leadership on environmental forensic investigations. Work includes contaminant fingerprinting, data interpretation, statistical evaluation, and preparation of defensible scientific outputs for clients, attorneys, and technical stakeholders.
As a key member of the Advisory Chemistry Operations team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
Technical and Analytical Responsibilities- Conduct environmental forensic data interpretation for organic and inorganic contaminants including PCBs, PFAS, PAHs, PCDD/Fs, VOCs, SVOCs, petroleum hydrocarbons, and metals.
- Develop and apply multivariate statistical analyses and chemo metric workflows using R, Python, JMP (SAS), or Matlab.
- Evaluate chemical fingerprints, congener patterns, isotopic data, and compositional datasets to support source attribution and environmental fate assessments.
- Review environmental analytical data for completeness, correctness, usability, conformance with method requirements, and forensic applicability.
- Support litigation, regulatory inquiries, and technical reviews by producing clear, defensible scientific analyses and visualizations.
- Assist in developing forensic strategies, investigative plans, and data requirements.
- Help prepare technical memoranda, expert report sections, and presentation materials.
- Participate in client discussions to explain analytical results, modeling outputs, and interpretations.
- Support quality reviews of laboratory data, method summaries, and QA documentation.
- Contribute to the preparation of project scopes, proposals, and cost estimates.
- Provide meaningful technical and marketing support during the growth of the company’s Chemistry practice, and assist with identifying, screening, and training new hires in the discipline.
- Actively participate in business development and growth initiatives for the environmental forensics practice.
- Identify qualified leads and develop successful proposals to establish a book of work.
- Attend / support client meetings arranged by BD staff as requested.
- Attend business and industry meetings as needed and requested.
- Attend at least one (1) educational seminar per quarter to stay abreast of applicable regulatory changes, technological changes, or industrial needs.
