Overview
Heavy Equipment Operator (Track Excavator) role at Slayden Constructors Inc. (SCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of MWH Constructors, Inc. (MWH). This position supports a wastewater treatment plant construction project in Estacada, Oregon.
Responsibilities- Safe operation of excavator/backhoe/forklift.
- May build level and excavate land surfaces using graders and other construction equipment.
- Knowledge of the excavator/backhoe loading requirements; load charts; critical picks.
- Perform duties with an awareness to avoid overloading, obstruction of equipment movement, working with overhead utilities, etc.
- Operate and maintain window aeration/composting relating equipment. Maintain daily temperature of compost. Prepare soil samples to send laboratory. Change, adjust, replace and/or sludge spreading implements.
- Effectively communicate to all site personnel.
- Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc.
- Daily maintenance of equipment.
- Identify, report, and correct hazards.
- Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure work is done in a manner which enhances the safety of the work environment.
- 1-3 years’ experience as a heavy equipment operator.
- Comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, load charts, and procedure manuals.
- Working knowledge of equipment capabilities and limitations.
- AWWA and/or large diameter/large bore piping.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Documentation must be provided at time of application.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to understand technical instructions.
- Knowledge of load-bearing capabilities of all equipment.
- Good understanding of fluid mechanics and all of the components involved in these processes.
- If requested, the applicant shall furnish a written statement from a medical doctor that he/she has had a physical examination in connection with the application, and is physically fit to perform the work.
- Required to communicate information, ideas, directions with the capability to perform the task or project discussed.
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory and with utmost regard for safety.
