Overview

HVAC Technician (Active TS/SCI with Polygraph Required) role at Fluor Corporation. This role involves performing installs, repairs and maintenance to a variety of HVAC equipment in customer‑owned facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
  • Analyze, plan, and perform preventive maintenance of various HVAC systems.
  • Plan shutdowns for maintenance and repair pumps including chill water, heating water and condensation pumps.
  • Install conduit, wiring, hard drawn copper tubing and possibly ductwork.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and modify HVAC systems.
  • Adhere to all city, state, and federal regulatory statutes.
  • Maintain maintenance records as required by regulations provided by the customer.
  • Learn and evaluate building control systems to analyze proper HVAC system operation and efficiency.
  • Order and maintain parts needed to repair and maintain HVAC equipment.
  • Work in live facilities and follow appropriate safe work practices (e.g., lock-out tag-out).
  • Manage relationships with major vendor accounts.
  • Maintain a high quality of service at all times.
  • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Safeguard assets and work effectively on a team with Operations and other trades.

Job Requirements
  • A combination of education and directly related experience equal to eight (8) years; some locations may have additional or different qualifications to comply with local requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time‑conscious and time‑effective manner.

Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • HVAC experience; minimum 5–10 years required.
  • Journeyman level experience required.
  • CFC Universal certification.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry moderate weight (15–50 pounds), sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, perform repetitive hand motions, hear, speak, and work extended hours as needed.
  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident; possess a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
  • On-call availability for emergencies and after‑hours work.
  • Ability to perform standard maintenance, inspection, repair, and installation tasks.
  • Working conditions include varied environments, with potential high temperatures, noise, fumes, and vibration.
  • Other duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in commercial HVAC work; experience in a data processing facility is a plus.
  • Experience with large commercial equipment such as centrifugal chillers, 40–100 hp pumps, closed‑loop chilled water systems, and related control systems.
  • Proficient computer skills; experience with plant control systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of commercial facilities operations, planning, training, scheduling, and safe work practices; incident‑free operations preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and ability to work with multi‑cultural teams.
  • Strong interpersonal, mentoring, and organizational skills; good multi‑tasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs.
