While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

The Infrastructure org supports the systems, services, and tooling at the foundation of Coinbase’s mission to increase economic freedom. We enable Coinbase engineers to design, develop, and operate services quickly, safely, securely and reliably. Infrastructure teams build and maintain the platforms critical to the existence of Coinbase.

• Design, implement and operate Coinbase’s distributed database technologies (e.g. Mongo
  
  DB, Postgres, RDS, Aurora, Dynamo
  
  DB, Redis, Memcached).
• Develop the future of our database systems with a focus on scalability, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Use your experience to guide other senior engineers and leadership on the right technical choices while anticipating the business’s needs, and work with various vendors in the database/storage space.
• Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers.
• Maintain, troubleshoot and be on call for engineering and operational support.
• Stay on top of industry trends and emerging technologies in databases to continuously enhance our systems and processes.

• You have at least 5 years of industry experience with a proven track record of building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, highly available distributed systems.
• You have in-depth, hands-on experience with large-scale database deployments in a production environment.
• You have experience in cloud distributed databases (e.g., Mongo
  
  DB, Postgres, RDS, Aurora, Dynamo
  
  DB, Redis, Memcached).
• You have a solid understanding of distributed database architecture, performance tuning and reliability.
• You have backend service and tool development experience in Golang, Java or Python.
• You have strong communication skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.
• You have experience with incident response, disaster recovery, and are interested in making systems highly available.
• You have gone through rapid growth in your company (from 10 to 100s of engineers).

Pay Transparency Notice:
Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include target bonus + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)). Pay Range: $180,625 — $212,500 USD
