Mast Brothers Towing and Collision Repair | Reedsport

Respond to breakdowns and motor vehicle crashes for the general public and public agencies. Understand company policies for protecting, securing, and storing vehicles. Load and unload damaged vehicles using methods that prevent further damage to customer cars or company equipment, working as required and on call when scheduled. Familiarize yourself with the documentation, information, and privacy of customer information. Estimated number of hours scheduled per week: 40-65 hours, Monday through Sunday.

The typical schedule is 4 days on, 3 days off..

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responding to Service Calls

Receiving and responding to calls from stranded motorists, law enforcement, or roadside assistance companies.

Vehicle Recovery

Safely securing and towing vehicles to repair shops, impound lots, or other designated locations.

Roadside Assistance

Providing services like jump-starts, tire changes, fuel delivery, and lockout assistance.

Responding to accident scenes, assessing damage, and safely loading vehicles onto the tow truck.

Private Property & Law Enforcement Tows

Removing illegally parked vehicles and transporting them to impound lots.( not repo work)

Paperwork and Documentation

Completing necessary paperwork, including service records and incident reports.

Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance

Ensuring the tow truck and equipment are in good working condition, performing basic maintenance, and keeping the work area clean.

Communication

Communicating effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other relevant parties.

Customer Service

Providing courteous and professional service to customers in stressful situations.

Safety Compliance

Adhering to all safety regulations and traffic laws

Before driving a tow truck or taking over from the previous shift, check for the mechanical soundness of various interior and exterior operating function systems using a pre-trip checklist. Performs post-driving and inventory inspections following company guidelines

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities/ other than yourself.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Knowledge of safe driving practices, laws, rules, regulations, and precautions related to operating a vehicle; traffic signs and devices; safe motor and vehicle driving techniques; and state rules regarding traffic safety and passenger loading is required. Proficient in the ability to communicate effectively; observe safety regulations; exercise sound judgment in varying weather and traffic conditions;

maintain records; and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, public agencies, and office staff. work independently and coordinate schedules.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school graduation or equivalency and two years related experience; or a satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the above-described duties. Basic knowledge of safety practices, laws, rules, regulations, and precautions in operating a vehicle.

TYPICAL PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

Road and weather conditions could be hazardous at times—challenging work conditions or terrain. There is the possibility of mechanical breakdowns. Behavioral or medical problems may be encountered with the customers when assisting them.

Contacts are with the public, police agencies, and public entities, such as Fire departments and utility companies.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Fill out reports and provide accurate information.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, and multiply.

REASONING ABILITIES

Common sense understanding to carry out detailed and/or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problem solving, adaptability to change or prioritize tasks in order of importance. Ability to work as a team…
