SUMMARY

The local shuttle driver in Boardman, OR will be responsible for executing local deliveries within a 50-mile radius with a 26ft box truck with utmost care, professionalism, and accuracy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate 26' box truck safely and in compliance with all traffic laws and the Department of Transportation.
  • Accurately and efficiently load and unload cargo often using a manual or powered pallet jack.
  • Back truck to customer dock.
  • Maintain compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and safe and professional driving behavior.
  • Communicate with customer representatives in pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner.
  • Communicate and coordinate with dispatchers.
  • Comply with all DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance it within the vehicle.
  • Ensure any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications & Work Experience
  • CDL A License Required.
  • A minimum of 2 years CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years. 3+ years CDL A driving experience preferred.
  • Meet D.O.T. qualification requirements FMCSR 391.41.
  • Experience in load securement, route planning, and navigating various road conditions.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to handle sensitive cargo with care.
  • Detail-oriented mindset required.
  • Must have a TWIC or eligible to obtain a TWIC card within 90 days if required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of a shuttle driver, the employee is required to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle. The employee must use hands and fingers to operate a steering wheel, controls, GPS devices, and other on-board equipment. The role also requires ability to reach with hands and arms, climb in and out of cab and trailer, stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch during inspections, coupling/uncoupling, or loading/unloading.

Vision requirements include ability to see at distance for safe driving and close vision for reading documents, using electronic logs, and performing inspections.

  • Frequently carry, push, or pull freight weighing 1-125 pounds.
  • Lifts up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently reach for freight at waist level and occasionally above shoulder height or below waist level.
  • Shift manual transmission and operate foot pedals, not applicable on all trucks.
  • Frequently squat or crouch to handle and position freight.
  • Climb in and out of the truck 4 to 6 feet, 8 to 10 times daily with assistance of various steps and handholds; occasionally bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching and balancing.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspection.
  • Fuel vehicles and check engine oil/coolant levels, perform preventative maintenance.
  • Must be able to spend at least 5% of day standing and 5% of the day walking on surfaces such as wood, metal and concrete.
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder level, at waist level and below waist level for maneuvering and directing the controls to operate the truck.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT

    While performing duties of a driver, employee may be exposed to diesel fumes, airborne particles, and occasionally harsh weather conditions while loading or unloading. Noise levels can vary from quiet inside cab to moderate or loud at delivery or pick-up locations.

    EXPECTED BASE PAY

    $23.00 - $26.00 / Hourly.
